Brooklyn struck gold in free agency by landing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The former is currently rehabbing from an Achilles injury, whereas the latter just suffered an injury during practice.

Irving spent the past two seasons with the Boston Celtics. Last season he averaged 23.8 points and 6.9 assists per game.

The Nets are hoping that Irving can help lead the team back into the postseason. A change of scenery should really help the All-Star guard.

Unfortunately for Brooklyn, the team had an early scare involving Irving.

According to NBA reporter Stefan Bondy, the Nets had to take Irving to the doctor because he took an inadvertent elbow during practice on Tuesday.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson went with Irving to get his injury checked out.

The status of Irving's injury is unknown at the time.

As for Durant, the Nets revealed that they have zero plans to play the former MVP this season. Instead, the coaching staff wants to focus on the long-term picture and allow him to make a full recovery from his torn Achilles.

With the regular season actually approaching fairly soon in the NBA, the Nets must have their fingers crossed that Irving is going to ready in time.
