Irving’s commitment to basketball itself was called into question plenty of times during the 2020-21 season. And the Nets’ playoff exit at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks certainly didn’t help. But there’s optimism the postseason bounce may have served as a wake-up call for Irving.
The Nets would like to do everything they can to keep their big three intact. They inked Kevin Durant to a four-year extension earlier this year. Could Irving be next? He posted a cryptic message via Instagram on Sunday, which reads: “I’ll never take a god given talent for granted…. There is more to this journey.”

This sounds like good news for the Brooklyn Nets. And perhaps Kyrie Irving has recommitted himself to the game of basketball.
Injuries proved to be their biggest obstacle during the 2021 playoffs. As long as the Nets stay healthy this upcoming season, they’ll practically be unbeatable.
If Brooklyn could also find a way to make Irving happy and committed, a championship could in its future. If not, it could be another underwhelming season from the star-studded Nets.
