Over a week ago, NBA legend Charles Barkley went into self-quarantine while getting tested for COVID-19. After days of waiting and finger-crossing, Sir Charles finally got the results of the test.
In a statement, Barkley announced that his COVID-19 test came back negative for the virus. He thanked everyone who offered support and well-wishes since he announced the self-quarantine earlier this month. However, he did not specify if or when he intends to leave self-quarantine.
The news will certainly be a welcome relief to many fans. Over the past few days, people on social media have been very concerned about how long the test was taking. Barkley’s decision to essentially go radio silent last week didn’t help anyone.
Fortunately, the NBA Hall of Famer did not test positive for the virus. And as long he maintains quarantine and social distancing, his risk of getting COVID-19 should stay very low.
Statement from Charles Barkley:
“I’ve received my COVID-19 test results this morning & they are negative. I’d like to thank everyone for reaching out and expressing your concern and support. You all be safe and please take the necessary actions to help ensure your well-being.”

But that said, we probably won’t be seeing Barkley on the set with the Inside the NBA crew anytime soon.
The 2019-20 NBA season is suspended for the foreseeable future, and there’s an increasing chance that the season may get canceled altogether at some point.
For now though, we’ve got some good news on the COVID-19 front.
