LaMelo Ball, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, was selected by Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets this week. The former Chino Hills star was asked this week about his dad’s comments about his new boss.
Several times, LaVar Ball has claimed that he would beat Michael Jordan in a game one-on-one. Of course, LaMelo was asked about that at his introductory press conference.
LaMelo Ball gave a diplomatic answer. He said that he doesn’t think that game will ever happen, but everyone knows how it would turn out.
“And I think we know how it would turn out, to be honest,” Ball said, before adding, “Well, I mean it is my pops and my boss, so I’m on both sides now.”
Jordan previously had a blunt response to LaVar’s comments.
“He played, I think, college, maybe?” Jordan said. “He averaged 2.2 points per game. Really? It doesn’t dignify an answer, but I’m going to give it to you because you asked the question. I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged.”
The LaVar Ball-Michael Jordan dynamic should be pretty fun to watch moving forward. The NBA’s 2020-21 season is expected to start in mid-December.
