The trifecta is complete. LiAngelo Ball is joining his brothers in the NBA.
LiAngelo is signing with the Hornets and joining his brother LaMelo, as was first reported by Rod Boone of Sports Illustrated. To make the final roster, though, he’ll have to impress in the summer league.
LiAngelo will play for the Hornets‘ summer league team later this month, per Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. It’s unlikely he does enough to convince Charlotte to give him a roster spot. But it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
“LiAngelo Ball, brother of Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, will play for Charlotte’s summer league team, per release,” Mannix said on Twitter.

LiAngelo Ball’s professional career has been a whirlwind. Since leaving UCLA, he’s attempted multiple times to make an NBA roster. He’s also played overseas like LaMelo once did.
In all likelihood, this move by the Hornets was made in an attempt to keep LaMelo happy. He’s their franchise player. They don’t want to risk worsening their relationship with the rising star.
It’s plausible all three Ball brothers end up playing for the Hornets at one time this year. There are legitimate trade rumors suggesting the Hornets could orchestrate a sign-and-trade with the Pelicans for Lonzo. It would sure be fun to see Lonzo and LaMelo in the same backcourt.
LiAngelo, in the meantime, will try and make a name for himself during this year’s summer league.
