LeBron James has endorsed a presidential candidate in an op-ed for Business Insider.
James is supporting Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and he publicly threw his support behind her in an op-ed published on Business Insider that will also run in the Akron Beacon Journal tomorrow.
James details all the reasons for his decision in his editorial --this dude really enjoys writing exclusive first-person pieces--but here's a quick excerpt:
I support Hillary because she will build on the legacy of my good friend, President Barack Obama. I believe in what President Obama has done for our country and support her commitment to continuing that legacy.
Like my foundation, Hillary has always been a champion for children and their futures. For over 40 years, she’s been working to improve public schools, expand access to health care, support children’s hospitals, and so much more.
James joins Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry in endorsing Clinton. New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has also expressed his support, as has Magic Johnson. A slew of other athletes have endorsed Clinton, but Republican nominee Donald Trump also has backing in the sports world.
Sports Illustrated has compiled a handy list of which athletes have come out for which candidates.
Does LeBron James endorsing Hillary Clinton make a huge difference in the election?
Likely not, but it is noteworthy to receive support from arguably the most famous American athlete, and his home state, Ohio, is a critical swing state.
