Report: Philadelphia 76ers Trading Nerlens Noel To Dallas Mavericks
A few hours before the NBA Trade deadline and we have one headline-making deal in the books.
According to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Philadelphia 76ers are sending Nerlens Noel to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut and a first-round pick.
Per ESPN's Marc Stein, the pick is conditional and protected in the 2017 NBA Draft. That means if the pick falls beyond the 1-to-18 range, it carries over to 2018.
It was assumed the 76ers would be trading one of their young big men, either Noel or Jahlil Okafor. Joel Embiid is entrenched as a future cornerstone in Philly.
With this deal, the Mavs get a still-developing young player in Noel (8.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg) while dumping Bogut, who could be waived the 76ers anyway. In return, Philly gets an intriguing wing in Anderson and a future first-round pick of some sort.
What do you think of the deal?
Update: Looks like the projected picks might shake out a little differently, according to Zach Lowe.
We'll probably have some more deals before the day is done.
