On Tuesday afternoon, Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle finally gave fans some news they’ve wanted to hear for the past few days.
Star guard Luka Doncic is close to a return. According to the latest news from Carlisle, Doncic could be back in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
The young star suffered a high-ankle sprain in late January. Doncic’s injured ankle was the same ankle he injured earlier this season. His previously ankle sprain caused Doncic to miss four games.
Now he’s expected to be back for Wednesday’s game.
Luka Doncic will be upgraded, coach Rick Carlisle said. Sounds likely he’ll play Wednesday

The second-year guard is nearly averaging a triple-double, with 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game.
Dallas went just 3-4 without Doncic in the starting lineup as he sat out with the ankle injury. He was squarely in the MVP race before suffering yet another ankle injury.
He’ll have just under 30 games left throughout the rest of the season to show he’s a viable MVP candidate. The Mavericks have a strong hold on a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
However, Dallas won’t be happy with finishing at No. 7 in the West. A potential playoff match-up against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round is a dangerous thing.
Stay tuned for the latest on Doncic.
