Prior to the 2018-19 NBA season it was largely believed that Kawhi Leonard would spend one year in Toronto, then leave in free agency. But then he won the NBA championship and everything changed, especially the possibility for a return to Toronto to defend the title.

With everyone eager to find out whether Kawhi will stay in Toronto or leave, Raptors guard Danny Green was recently asked to give his thoughts. In an appearance on Hoops Talk via SportsNet, Green seemed optimistic that Kawhi could return to Toronto.

Speaking in front of a live audience, Green made the case for Toronto being a place Kawhi can be beloved by fans. He also stated that in his opinion there is a better chance that he stays than leaves.

“I don’t know the percentage [of chance that he stays],” Green said during the event Saturday. “But i think it’s a higher percentage for him to be here than to leave.”

Green was a part of the trade with the San Antonio Spurs that sent Kawhi to Toronto in 2018. There likely isn't a Raptors player better suited to comment on his decision.

Kawhi went on to have an All-Star caliber regular season with the Raptors before leading them on a tear in the NBA playoffs.

His strong form culminated in a sensational performance in the NBA Finals, earning Finals MVP honors as Toronto won their first NBA title.

Nevertheless, teams from Los Angeles and New York City are all heavily interested in bring Kawhi into the fold and have more than enough money to offer him.
