On Tuesday night, the NBA held its draft lottery, handing out the top 14 picks in the upcoming 2021 draft.
Only one team, though, was lucky enough to land the No. 1 pick. That selection belongs to the Detroit Pistons, who finished the 2020-21 NBA season with the second-worst record in the league.
Unfortunately for the Houston Rockets, who had the league's worst record, they landed the No. 2 pick. Of course, that's not terrible news for Houston, which continues its rebuild.
As for the Pistons, the team finally landed the No. 1 pick for the first time since 1970 when the team selected future Hall of Famer Bob Lanier out of St. Bonaventure.
Pistons fans - including former NBA star Jalen Rose - were thrilled with the outcome. Here's was Rose's reaction to the news on Tuesday night.
The Pistons will have plenty to choose from with the No. 1 overall pick.
Cade Cunningham is projected to be the first overall pick, but Detroit could look elsewhere in the draft if need be. USC’s Evan Mobley, the G League’s Jalen Green and Gonzaga’s Jalen Suggs are all expected to be top-five picks in the upcoming draft.
Who will the Pistons draft with the No. 1 pick?
