Draymond Green Makes Opinion On Bronny James Very Clear
Draymond Green believes Bronny James has a future in the NBA.
Although he's not expected to go with a lottery pick, or even in the first round, the son of LeBron James is garnering more attention than any prospect in the 2024 draft class. Even if he never touches his father's lofty legacy, Green suggested that Bronny could be a solid draft value.
"He has more than enough attributes and tools and things about him that will make him a good backup point guard, at least," Green said on his podcast with The Volume.
Green detailed the qualities Bronny possesses that bode well for a respectable NBA career.
"Backup point guards need to pick up full court. He's going to be able to do that with the best of them," Green said. "Backup point guards need to be able to knock down shots. We know he can knock down a shot. Backup point guards need to be smart, not make mistakes. People complain that he played basketball too mistake-free."
Bronny might not be ready to make an instant impact during his rookie season, but Green said teams spend top-10 picks on players who aren't ready for the NBA yet.
After going into cardiac arrest last summer, Bronny averaged 19.4 points in 25 games at USC last season. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 steals.
However, Bronny turned heads with an impressive performance at the NBA combine. ESPN catapulted the prospect from No. 98 to 54 in its pre-draft rankings.
The combine showing could embolden the 19-year-old to stay in next month's draft. As a former No. 35 pick, Green knows that second-round picks can still carve out a meaningful NBA career.
