As the new face of the New Orleans Pelicans, Zion Williamson is now arguably the second-most popular athlete in New Orleans. The city's most popular athlete, Drew Brees, had a message for him now that he's a part of The Big Easy.

Over the weekend, Zion Williamson posted a picture with a signed jersey from Drew Brees in the background. Andrew Lopez of The Times-Picayune revealed that the jersey contained a message as well.

“To Zion - Passing the torch to you! Who dat!”

The meaning behind the message is pretty clear. The 40-year-old Brees is entering the twilight of his Hall of Fame NFL career, and is leaving the city in Zion's hands when he decides to retire.

Zion will be taking over a Pelicans team that is only two years removed from the playoffs, but is undergoing a major rebuild after trading Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers.

New Orleans drafted Zion No. 1 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft after winning the lottery pick for the first time since 2012.

The Saints might find themselves in a similar position to the Pelicans whenever Brees retires, whether that's at the end of this coming season or the year after.

Brees is clearly ready to pass the torch. The only question now is, when will he do so?
