President Barack Obama picked the New England Patriots to beat the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, and the Golden State Warriors to take home the NBA Title.
The President was a guest on SiriusXM's Sway in the Morning, and was asked to give his predictions for the current NBA and NFL seasons. Anyone who has watched Obama make his NCAA Tournament picks over the years knows that he is not the biggest risk taker when picking his sports, and he was similarly risk-averse today.
In Super Bowl 51, Barack Obama has a rematch of Super Bowl 49, with the Patriots knocking off the Seahawks once again. In the NBA, he has the Warriors overcoming the massive one-game hole they've dug themselves and winning the title. He didn't give his team out of the Eastern Conference.
Based on the early NFL season, it is hard to argue the Pats and Seahawks. Both teams have looked good this year, especially New England since Tom Brady's return from his four-game Deflategate suspension. Russell Wilson has been banged up and is not as mobile as he has been in seasons past, but the Seahawks defense looks excellent once again. On the NBA side, it is too early to make any real judgments, but we're not ready to write off a team with Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson.
