It’s been a brutal season for the Golden State Warriors. But life is about to get much better for the team and its fans, as Steph Curry’s close to a return from injury.
Head coach Steve Kerr announced that Curry participated in a live scrimmage during a Warriors’ practice on Saturday. He suffered a broken hand at the beginning of the NBA season and has missed every game since. But it looks like the All-Star guard will be returning soon.
“He was cleared for contact today,” Kerr told reporters, via Anthony Slater. “This was the first day he’s actually scrimmaged. Now, we’ll give him more scrimmaging, more contact. We’ll see how the coming week goes.”
Golden State has struggled mightily without the services of Curry this season. The Warriors are currently 12-43, good for last place in the Western Conference standings. But with 26 regular-season games remaining, that provides plenty of time for Curry to get back on the court. According to Curry himself, he’s still targeting March 1st as a return date. ESPN NBA reporter Nick Friedell has the latest:
Steph on target return date: “It’s always been March 1st”
He’s optimistic he’ll play next Sunday.
