How Lonzo Ball Played In His 1st NBA Preseason Game

Here's how the star rookie performed in his first NBA preseason game.

Lonzo Ball's 2017-18 preseason began on Saturday night.

The star rookie out of UCLA played in his first NBA preseason game for the Los Angeles Lakers, taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Here's how it went.

Ball, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, finished with 5 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds in the 108-99 loss to Minnesota. He started for the Lakers, along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr.

The Ball family was, of course, on hand for the game in Anaheim.

His first points came on a 3.

Ball finished 2 of 9 from the field and 1 of 5 from the 3-point line. He turned the ball over three times and had two steals. The former Bruins' star played 19 minutes, the fewest of any of the Lakers' starters, though it's the preseason so that's not much of an indication for anything moving forward.

The Lakers are set to play the Nuggets on Monday.
