The Los Angeles Lakers landed LeBron James in the 2018 off-season, setting high expectations for the years to come.
However, after failing to make the playoffs, the Lakers were left wondering if the LeBron era will be a success. In order to turn the franchise around, the Lakers need to surround LeBron with talent - but who is willing to join him in Los Angeles?
According to a report from Lakers insider Arash Markazi, Philadelphia 76ers guard Jimmy Butler "would love" to play for the Lakers.
Here's what Markazi had to say about the possibility of Butler in L.A.:
"When Colin Cowherd asked me this morning on The Herd what star player the Lakers could realistically sign, I didn’t waste any time saying Jimmy Butler. He likes L.A, LeBron James has been in touch with him and he would join the Lakers in a second if they offered him a max deal."
Earlier this week, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst said on Pardon The Interruption that he's heard LeBron has been "in contact" with both Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard about playing for the Lakers.
If Butler is on board, the Lakers could be taking their first right step since signing LeBron in the first place.
With the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft, the Lakers also have ammo for a potential trade.
