The Los Angeles Clippers had the Denver Nuggets on the ropes last night in Game 5, but they were unable to finish the deal. What made it such a tough pill to swallow was the fact that Kawhi Leonard looked unstoppable on the court.
Leonard had 36 points, nine rebounds and four assists for the Clippers. That wasn’t enough though, as the Nuggets outscored the Clippers by 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Following the team’s loss in Game 5, one reporter asked Leonard if he’s playing at his best. Clearly the reigning Finals MVP didn’t like that question, as he responded “I’m just trying to win the basketball game. Next question, please.”
It’s hard to blame Leonard for being frustrated with this question. For starters, he’s doing all he can to put his team in position to win. Secondly, it’s got to be tough to field questions after losing a game in which the Clippers should have won.
Reporter – “You had 36 points and great defense. Do you think you’re playing at your best?”

Closing out a series is never easy, especially when you’re dealing with a battle-tested team like the Nuggets. We recently saw them erase a 3-1 series deficit in the first round of this year’s playoffs against the Jazz.
Although it’ll be tough to put away Denver, the odds are in Los Angeles’ favor.
If the Clippers are unable to close out the series on Sunday, they’ll get another chance to seal the deal on Tuesday night.
