Lakers fans can finally rejoice. Alex Caruso will be in the starting lineup for Los Angeles tonight when it takes on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Caruso started simply as a fan-favorite, but has evolved into a quality bench player. The 6-foot-5 guard out of Texas A&M has always been an intense defender – and his improved offensive play this season has sparked a wide debate regarding how many minutes the backup guard should be playing.
The fan-favorite Caruso is specifically beneficial when he plays alongside LeBron James. The two Lakers have been on the court together for 445 minutes this season, outscoring opponents by 24.7 points per 100 possessions – which stands as the best mark in the NBA, according to NBA.com.
After months of Lakers fans demanding more Alex Caruso minutes, their wish has finally been granted. With Lakers SG Danny Green dealing with a sore hip, Caruso is set to replace him in the starting lineup tonight, according to Lakers beat reporter Mike Trudell.
Starters at Memphis: Alex Caruso, Avery Bradley, LeBron, AD and JaVale McGee.
Danny Green (sore hip) is out. This is Caruso’s first start this season.

This is exactly what the city of Los Angeles has been waiting for. Unfortunately, tonight’s game won’t be at Staples Center.
The Lakers are set to face-off with the Grizzlies in Memphis. This could be a preview of both team’s first round playoff series, as the Lakers are currently the No. 1 seed while the Grizzlies are the eight seed in the Western Conference standings.
