Usually, the most valuable businesses in the world are the ones that are successful. Well, it turns out that isn’t 100 percent true when it comes to the NBA.
Forbes released a list of the most valuable teams in the league. It might seem like a surprise to some people, but the New York Knicks is reportedly worth $4.6 billion, which means they grabbed the top spot for the fifth-straight year.
Right behind the Knicks on the list are the Los Angeles Lakers. This shouldn’t be that shocking, especially since they’re a legitimate title contender and have one of the most marketable athletes ever in LeBron James.
Coming in at third are the Golden State Warriors. Clearly the franchise is doing well for itself since it built a new stadium in San Francisco, California.
Here are the the five most valuable franchises in the NBA, according to Forbes:
- New York Knicks
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Golden State Warriors
- Chicago Bulls
- Boston Celtics
You can check out the full list from Forbes here.
The Los Angeles Clippers are on the rise and should eventually make the top five. Team owner Steve Ballmer is one of the wealthiest figures in the world, so it’s only a matter of time before they dethrone the Bulls or Celtics.
