Kyle Kuzma's foot issue will keep him out of action for at least the next few weeks, the Los Angeles Lakers announced Thursday night.

The third-year pro suffered a stress reaction in his left foot while working out with USA Basketball this summer. It prevented him from playing in the FIBA World Cup.

According to the Lakers' release, Kuzma has not been cleared for full practice or game participation. He will have an MRI when the team returns from China.

Los Angeles will play a two-game exhibition series with the Brooklyn Nets in China. Games are set for October 10 and October 12.

Kuzma is being counted on to be a legitimate third scorer alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, so his injury isn't ideal.

The Lakers definitely want to exercise caution here in order to have Kuzma available long-term.

Last season, the 6-foot-9 Kuzma averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game for the Lakers.
