In a potential preview of the Western Conference Finals, the LA Lakers took on the LA Clippers today. Both sides were at full health, allowing us to get our showdown between LeBron and AD, and Kawhi and Paul George. After a few short hours, it was clear that LeBron was the winner, and he’s getting the praise he deserves for it.
LeBron James had 28 points, seven rebounds and a game-leading nine assists in a team-leading 34.5 minutes on the court. Though Anthony Davis had more points and rebounds, LeBron is the one who came out of the game looking the best.
Taking to Twitter during the game, many analysts and fans alike all said the same thing: LeBron is now in the running for NBA MVP.
LeBron has four NBA MVP titles already, but a fifth would put him into even rarer company in NBA history.
LeBron James is ahead after this wknd in the MVP race. There is no doubt.

LeBron is in Year 17, has played 3rd most mins in NBA history, coming off the only major injury of his career.
In the last 48 hours he’s thoroughly outplayed the reigning league MVP & reigning Finals MVP.
He’s still FAR & AWAY the best player in the league & the greatest ever.

The timing of LeBron’s surge could not be better. A recent injury to Milwaukee Bucks megastar Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to lead the MVP frontrunner on the shelf for the next few games.
A few days or even weeks would be plenty of time for LeBron to make his MVP case.
It’s simply amazing. In the span of just three days, the entire NBA MVP discussion may have been turned upside down.
