I'm sure all of the Los Angeles Lakers, especially those on the summer league roster, are thrilled to play with LeBron James. Center Jeff Ayres couldn't help but get a jab in at The King.
College basketball fans might best remember Ayres when he was Jeff Pendergraph, and starring with James Harden at Arizona State. He hasn't been in the NBA since 2016, when he had a brief stint with the Clippers, but he does have a ring.
Ayres was a member of the 2014 San Antonio Spurs, playing in 73 games—including 10 starts—en route to a title. That championship, of course, came at the expense of LeBron and the Miami Heat.
LeBron James was reportedly impressed with Jeff Ayres during today's 101-78 Summer League win over the Pistons.
Ayres led the team with 27 minutes, and recorded a double-double, going for 10 points and 10 rebounds.
After the game, he was asked if he had any "history" with LeBron. His answer is pretty perfect.
Hopefully, LeBron has a good sense of humor about that. If not, we'll find out when the transaction reports come out.
LeBron James made his first public appearance in Lakers gear today, and entered the arena to some really strong cheers from the Lakers faithful.
He was pretty excited watching his potential future teammates, especially after a big four-point play by Alex Caruso.
Svi Mykhailiuk and Josh Hart have been extremely impressive during the entire summer league run. They went for 19 and 18 points, respectively, in today's win.
