LiAngelo Ball, the middle brother in the Ball family, declared for the NBA Draft on Tuesday. His NBA potential is quite unclear, but future Hall of Famer Paul Pierce believes in him.
Pierce, like the Balls, is a California native. Despite being most famous for his long tenure with the Boston Celtics, he still supports his fellow Southern California basketball stars.
That includes LiAngelo Ball. TMZ caught up with Paul Pierce outside a grocery store, and asked The Truth about a number of hoops topics.
After declaring that his alma mater Kansas will win the NCAA Tournament, Pierce addressed Ball's NBA Draft potential.
"I think he's got a good shot, man. I hope all the Ball brothers make it to the league.
"I'm a true support to all the California young hoopers, being that I'm from here. I support all of those guys, I hope they all make it."
Pierce definitely seemed more interested in showing off his upcoming dinner. The full interview, via TMZ:
Paul Pierce definitely doesn't have the popular take on LiAngelo Ball's NBA prospects.
It seems very unlikely that Ball will be selected in the upcoming draft at all. He has performed pretty well in Lithuania, averaging 15.7 points and hitting 45-percent of his threes. However, the competition isn't at the top of what other European pros face, and he doesn't have the impressive ball skills of his guard brothers.
Ball's best shot is probably to latch on with a G-League team and go from there. We'll see if that flies with LaVar Ball, or if he ends up back in Europe at some point.
