On Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Lakers in the first preseason game of the season and the first game in Golden State’s new arena.
It’s not working out too well for the home team.
During the early action, the Lakers’ biggest offseason addition made his presence felt. Big man Anthony Davis, acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, dominated Draymond Green on three-straight possessions.
In the first quarter alone, Davis racked up 17 points and seven rebounds.
His performance had Lakers fans salivating at the potential of this team. Even Magic Johnson decided to weigh in.
“I think LeBron James is going to average close to a triple double this season. His passing was on point and Anthony Davis was dominant in that first quarter,” Johnson said about the Lakers.
I think Lebron is going to average close to a triple double this season. His passing was on point and Anthony Davis was dominant in that 1st quarter.

After opening a 13-point lead in the first quarter, the Lakers fell down to Earth – slightly – in the second. Los Angeles took a 59-51 lead into the half.
LeBron put up 15 points, eight assists and four rebounds in 18 minutes in the first half. He’s well on his way to a triple-double in this game.
The Lakers look like a legitimate contender for the NBA title this season.
