Rajon Rondo is expecting big things out of the Los Angeles Lakers this upcoming season.
Rondo, 35, will play a critical role for a Lakers team with championship aspirations. He knows what it takes.
The veteran point guard has twice before won a championship. He won one with the Boston Celtics back in 2008. That team was led by several Hall of Famers in Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Then, just two years ago, Rondo helped LeBron James and Anthony Davis win a title in the 2020 NBA Finals.
Believe it or not, Rondo told reporters on Tuesday that this year’s Lakers team is “probably” the “most talented” he’s ever played with.

That’s quite high praise.
There’s no question the Los Angeles Lakers are immensely talented. They’re led by LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook and have savvy veterans like Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard.
The real questions for this Lakers team is whether or not they can play as a unit and, more importantly, stay healthy. Age is absolutely a concern in Los Angeles leading up to the 2021-22 season.
The good news for the Lakers this year is they have more weapons to rely on in case LeBron or AD go down with an injury. Last year, depth was an issue, especially during the postseason.
With Rondo back in the mix, he should be able to alleviate the pressure that rests on LeBron’s shoulders regarding ball-handling responsibilities. That alone should help the Lakers get back into championship form.
The Lakers begin the season on Oct. 19 against the Golden State Warriors.
