Regardless of their absence from the postseason, the Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in the headlines. Magic Johnson poured gasoline on the fire - figuratively speaking - with his comments about Rob Pelinka on ESPN's First Take.

Johnson referred to Pelinka as someone who would go behind his back over the course of the season. Combine that rift with the front office's refusal to fire Luke Walton during the season, and it's all the reasoning the Hall of Famer needed to resign.

With Johnson's side to the story out in the open, it's time to look at the matter from the other side of the spectrum. Jeanie Buss, Kurt Rambis, and several others within the franchise should eventually have a few comments to share.

As for Pelinka, he wasted little time to respond to these remarks made on First Take.

"Truly, it's saddening and disheartening to think he believes things are a misperception. I think all of us in life probably have been through things where maybe there are third-party whispers that aren't true," Pelinka said in a press conference. "But I look forward to the opportunity to talk to him, sit down with him and work through them just like any relationship because they (Johnson's previous comments) simply aren't true."

Here is his full reaction to Johnson's comments:

This drama-filled feud just took another interesting turn, specifically with Pelinka saying that he still chats about the Lakers with Johnson.

Los Angeles will be the center of attention for the next few months in the NBA, and that won't change anytime soon.
