On Thursday afternoon, the Los Angeles Lakers received devastating news about their star big man, DeMarcus Cousins.

Boogie reportedly tore his ACL after playing a pick-up game against other NBA players.

NBA insider Shams Charania broke the unfortunate news.

"Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a torn ACL in his knee, league sources tell The Athletic," he reported Thursday afternoon.

Multiple reports suggested Cousins bumped knees with another player. However, TMZ released video of the injury that shows how Cousins sustained the torn ACL.

In the video, Cousins drives to the basket for a layup, but appears to take a misstep with his right leg. He fell to the ground and immediately grabbed for the knee while other players looked on.

Here's video of the play.

It's a heartbreaking diagnosis for Cousins, who has had a troubling past 15 months.

He suffered a ruptured Achilles with the New Orleans Pelicans that cost him a shot at a lucrative contract. After signing with the Golden State Warriors, Boogie thought he'd have a chance at a title and a big payday.

Instead, he suffered a torn quad and didn't get a ring.

He signed a one-year contract with the Lakers earlier this summer.
