A prominent newspaper is facing some harsh criticism on social media for what it tweeted following Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Golden State Warriors came from behind to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night, moving one game closer to an NBA Finals appearance.

Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum struggled in Game 3, resulting in the following tweet from The Oregonian:

"Splash brothers? Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum look like the ‘trash brothers’ against Warriors: Best Game 3 memes, jokes, national reaction."

Unsurprisingly, fans did not appreciate this:

The Oregonian has since clarified the tweet, saying the "trash brothers" comment was based on a tweet from another sports writer and not the opinion of the paper. Still, people aren't happy.

Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, meanwhile, is set for Monday night.

Tipoff is at 9 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
