Mavs Legend Dirk Nowitzki Nearing Deal To Become NBA Analyst
One of the greatest scorers in NBA history is reportedly preparing to launch his broadcasting career.
According to longtime basketball reporter Marc Stein, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki is closing in on a deal to join Amazon Prime's NBA coverage starting next season.
The 14-time All-Star has kept a pretty low profile since retiring from the game back in 2019. But the fan favorite big man appears ready to return and start his new chapter on the other side of the scorer's table.
Amazon is set to air 66 NBA games next season after coming to terms with the league on an 11-year media rights agreement worth a reported $1.8 billion annually.
Earlier this week, The Athletic reported that Amazon had hired veteran play-by-play man Ian Eagle to be its lead commentator. However, the streaming giant is still finalizing its on-air roster.
Other names believed to be targeted by Amazon are Blake Griffin, Richard Jefferson, and former coach Stan Van Gundy.
Nowitzki spent 21 years in the Association where he was an NBA champion, regular season and Finals MVP and 12-time first-team All-NBA selection. He retired sixth on the league's all-time scoring list (31,560 points) and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2023.

A player with his knowledge and charisma should only benefit Amazon's broadcasts, and we certainly look forward to hearing him on the mic come next season.
