NBA Superstar Could Entertain A ‘Monster’ Contract Offer From Chinese Team

Dwyane Wade is on the downside of his NBA career. However, he still has enough ability to play at the highest level.

He split last season between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, where he returned after being traded following the Cavs’ trade deadline roster overhaul.

He averaged double-digit scoring on both rosters. It was the least productive season of his career, but there’s definitely still a role for him on a roster, if he wants one.

It sounds like Wade might be looking at other options, though. The three-time NBA Champion recently signed a lifetime shoe deal with Chinese brand Li-Ning.

He was recently over in China as part of that deal, and was non-committal about his next step in the NBA. From the Associated Press:

“When I get back from China, I’ll focus on that,” Wade said. “Right now, I’m focused on the game after basketball. Whatever happens in basketball, it happens. I’ve done everything that I can to this point to put myself that I’m in this position I am today, where I can do something that hasn’t been done globally yet. The basketball will take care of itself. I’ll sit down and figure that out once I get back from this tour at some point.”

Now, a Chinese team could figure in Dwyane Wade’s free agency.

According to international basketball site Sportando, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers are prepared to offer D-Wade a “monster” offer:

Dwyane Wade is still a free agent after his season with Cavaliers and Heat.

Wade has not decided yet whether to play one more season or retire.

But D-Wade is wished in China. Xinjiang Flying Tigers are ready to offer him a monster deal.

Former NBA combo guard Alexey Shved signed what is currently the biggest deal for any basketball player abroad back in 2015. His three-year deal with Khimki in the Russian league, which was recently renewed, was worth $10.2 million.

Based on the language used, a guy like Wade could fetch even more, especially as he looks to make a bigger splash in the Chinese market.
