Michael Jordan Announces Massive Donation Following Hurricane Helene
Michael Jordan is stepping up for the state of North Carolina.
Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on North Carolina, along with Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia, over the weekend. The Category 4 storm caused more than 100 deaths and billions of dollars worth of damage. Asheville, North Carolina, a town hundreds of millions inland, took on some of the worst damage. Photos from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene are striking and it will likely take weeks and months for the area to recover.
On Monday, the legendary NBA star announced that he and 23XI Racing were making a massive donation.
"Following the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, Michael Jordan and 23XI Racing are donating $1 million to assist with relief efforts in North Carolina, our home. We are contributing $500,000 each to the NC Disaster Relief Fund and Second Harvest of Metrolina. Michael and 23XI Racing are committed to helping North Carolina move forward and encourage other to join in rebuilding our communities," the announcement read.
Jordan is praying for his home state.
"Our hearts go out to everyone suffering from Hurricane Helene's devastation," he said.
"23XI Racing and I are honored to support the NC Disaster Relief Fund and Second Harvest of Metrolina as they help rebuild lives, restore hope and ensure that those affected receive the assistance they need. While the process of recovery will take a long time, as a proud North Carolinan, I known firsthand the strength and resilence of the people in this state we call home, and we will get through this together."
Our thoughts continue to be with everyone in North Carolina, along with the other affected states, on Monday.
