The Brooklyn Nets have pulled off the coup of NBA free agency, reportedly landing Kevin Durant to a four-year max contract. Durant won't play next season as he recovers from a torn Achilles, but he is expected to be ready for 2020-21.

Considering the state of the Brooklyn franchise a few years ago in the wake of the ill-fated Kevin Garnett/Paul Pierce trade with the Boston Celtics, it is truly remarkable to think where the team is today. To make matters better, they beat out the New York Knicks to land KD.

Brooklyn guard Spencer Dinwiddie is excited. He agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Nets in December and is locked in with the franchise until 2022.

Dinwiddie took to Twitter to throw flames at the people who ridiculed him for re-upping with the Nets, as well as Knicks fans who taunted him on social media.

Dinwiddie and all Nets fans should be enjoying this moment. It has been a long time coming.

They will have to wait a little while to see their prized acquisition in action, but it could be all worth it in the end.

In the meantime, Knicks fans must contend with another pipe dream not coming to fruition.
