Last week, the New Orleans Pelicans sent sharpshooter J.J. Redick to the Dallas Mavericks right before the trade deadline. On Wednesday, the veteran guard called out his former team for the way it handled his situation.

"I don't think you're going to get honesty from that front office, just objectively speaking - that's not an opinion," Redick said on his 'Old Man & the Three' podcast . "I don't think what happened with me is necessarily an isolated incident."

Redick admit that he requested a trade back in November with the hope that he'd get the chance to play closer to his family in Brooklyn during the pandemic.

Even though a trade between the Nets and Pelicans never materialized, Redick still thought he might get traded to a team in the northeast. If a trade with a northeast team wasn't on the table, Redick would've welcomed a buyout. Instead he was sent to the Mavericks, which clearly didn't sit well with him.

Redick also said he's not the only one who doesn't trust the Pelicans' front office anymore.

"I don't expect the agents who worked with me to ever trust that front office again."

The Pelicans haven't responded to Redick's comments yet, and to be honest, they don't have to.

At the end of the day, New Orleans didn't have to send Redick to Brooklyn. While there's no doubt that COVID-19 has presented a ton of obstacles for every player, front offices will always do what's in their best interest.
