New York Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis made some waves Saturday night.
The New York Knicks have missed the playoffs the last four seasons, and one of the lone bright spots the past two years has been the play of Kristaps Porzingis, the team's 7-foot-3 Latvian "unicorn."
But all wasn't right with Porzingis and the Knicks as this season wound down. Apparently frustrated by the annual discord surrounding the organization, he skipped an exit meeting with team president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills. This reportedly led to several teams inquiring with the Knicks about a potential trade.
That's why Porzingis' tweet Saturday night, which was quickly deleted, caused such a stir. It read simply "LA Clippers" with some smiley face emojis and caused rapid speculation.
Did this mean KP wants to be traded to LA? The Clippers had been a rumored landing spot for Carmelo Anthony, so did this indicate both Melo AND Porzingis could be headed to Tinseltown?
Or was everyone just making much ado about nothing?
For what it's worth, Porzingis is predictably saying he was hacked.
Regardless of the explanation, it is probably best to just chill out a bit. Porzingis is under contract with the Knicks for a few more seasons, so there is plenty of time to stabilize the relationship a bit.
Then again, this is the Knicks, so who knows what to expect.
