Bill Simmons Thinks This Three Team Trade Will Send Kyrie Irving To The Knicks

The Knicks are one of the four teams that Kyrie Irving reportedly prefers as a trade destination.

On Friday, after the shocking news that Irving requested a trade from Cleveland last week was made public, four teams were named as destinations that the star point guard likes.

The New York Knicks are joined by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, and San Antonio Sputs on that list.

With Carmelo Anthony wanting out of New York, and presumably willing to waive his no-trade clause to play with longtime friend LeBron James, the Knicks may actually be the most likely destination of those four.

Here's The Ringer's Bill Simmons' best guess at how that trade would shake out:

On paper, this seems like it could work. The Suns are always looking to acquire young talent, and this would give them a backcourt with an extremely high ceiling. The Knicks would get a new cornerstone star, and the Cavaliers would get a star in return.

While adding Carmelo and Bledsoe probably leaves Cleveland well short of Golden State, Melo and LeBron are very close, and Bledsoe is a client of Rich Paul, LeBron James' lifelong friend and agent.

If the Cavaliers want to do everything they can to keep The King in Cleveland, surrounding him with guys like Melo and Bledsoe isn't the worst gambit.
