Report: Former Cavs Coach David Blatt Could Replace Jeff Hornacek As Knicks Head Coach

David Blatt could become the Knicks next head coach.

The former Cleveland Cavaliers coach who led the team to the NBA Finals in 2014-15, was fired by the team after a 30-11 start to the 2015-16 season.

He was replaced by Tyronn Lue, and the team went on to win the 2015-16 NBA Championship.

Blatt, could be in line for a return, however, according to New York Daily News reporter Frank Isola.

According to Isola, Blatt has connections with the Knicks' front office, and he could be a primary candidate to take over for Jeff Hornacek, should the Knicks continue to struggle.

From the report:

Blatt, who has enjoyed tremendous success abroad, owns an impressive resume. No question about it. But you know the old saying, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. And Blatt has connections with people in high places inside the Knicks front office, namely team president Steve Mills and newly hired front office executive Craig Robinson.

Hornacek will receive every opportunity to prove he's the man for the job, but it doesn't look like the leash is too long. Blatt, who already said he intends to return to the NBA, is lurking in the background, and has already proven he can lead an NBA team to the Finals.
