Kevin Durant On The Thunder Acquiring Paul George: 'It's Going To Suck For Us'

Kevin Durant was quick to compliment his former team in an interview with The Athletic.

In June, Kevin Durant became an NBA champion and a Finals MVP, but since then, he's been largely out of the spotlight. Meanwhile, the NBA has been non-stop with trades, free agency talks and the like.

The Athletic sat down with Durant to discuss what's happened in the league since his title victory.

Here's what he had to say about Paul George joining his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder:

But they got Russ[ell] [Westbrook] and PG and Steven Adams to be their Big 3. I think if they feed off each other, it could be great. I'm a fan of the game. So I can see if something is going to work or not and I think that's going to be a really, really great pairing. It's going to suck for us and the rest of the league. But as a fan of the game, it's going to be tight to see how they work that thing out.

Pretty interesting.

It comes off as a bit patronizing for Durant to say it'll "suck" to face them because come on, the Warriors are light-years better than any team in the league right now. And it's also a bit of a stretch to include Steven Adams as a "Big 3" candidate, but maybe Durant is just trying to be nice. Either way, it seems a bit disingenuous.
