Sixers' Young Stars Excitedly React To J.J. Redick News On Social Media

After years of "trusting the process," the Philadelphia 76ers have signed a star, inking J.J. Redick to a huge one-year deal, and the team's young stars are pumped.

This afternoon, Redick agreed to a one-year, $23 million deal with Philadelphia.

The yearly money was a good bit more than Redick was expected to earn, but the deal makes a ton of sense for both sides.

Redick, who was making less than $7 million per year with the Clippers during his four years in Los Angeles, will make nearly as much in one year with Philly as he did in his full last four-year deal. Philadelphia has cap space to burn, considering most of its big players are on rookie deals, could use a veteran presence like Redick, and needed a shooter in the worst way. Redick checks all the boxes.

Philadelphia stars like Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and No. 1 draft pick Markelle Fultz have weighed in on the deal, and they all seem pretty excited about their new teammate.

Philadelphia still has a long way to go. Embiid has played fewer than 40 games in three years, Simmons is coming off of injury and is yet to play in the NBA, and Fultz is only a rookie. However, Philly may already be thinking about the playoffs. Embiid tweeted as much on Friday, in what seemed like a response to Paul George heading to Oklahoma City and the Western Conference.

Sixers fans have been wandering through the desert for a while now, so they've earned this excitement.
