Joel Embiid is going to get surgery on his right thumb, but that won't happen until the Philadelphia 76ers season ends.

Embiid will require surgery to address the ligament tear in his right thumb but is intent on playing through it for the time being.

Embiid first suffered the injury in the first half of Game 3, which the 76ers ended up winning to go up 3-0 in their series against the Toronto Raptors. He ended up playing through it and finished with 33 points and 13 rebounds in 44 minutes of action. Even though Philadelphia lost Game 4, Embiid still finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. The NBA world is a bit surprised that Embiid will play through this injury, but is applauding him for it.

Philadelphia will look to close out the series on Monday when Game 5 is played at the Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. ET.
