Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns took their budding rivalry to a new level Wednesday night when they engaged in legit fisticuffs.
Actually, it was more of a wrestling match. The two young big men got tangled up in the middle of the paint, even though the ball was at the opposite end of the court at the time.
A couple of shoves turned into a haymaker from Towns which turned into a headlock and the pair of 7-footers grappling to the ground. Teammates and coaches quickly intervened, with 76ers star Ben Simmons putting Towns in a headlock on the floor.

Not surprisingly, both Towns and Embiid were ejected for their extracurricular activities. We’ll see if any further punishment follows.
Before their fight, Towns and Embiid had both filled the stat sheet. Towns scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a pair of steals.
Embiid, meanwhile, had 19 points, five rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot. It has been all Philly on the scoreboard too, as they lead by double-digits late in the third quarter.
