Joel Embiid’s relationship with the city of Philadelphia has been better. Sixers fans voiced their frustration with the big man by showering him with a loud set of boos prior to tonight’s game against the Clippers.
Philadelphia’s always been a tough city to play in, especially if an athlete makes any kind of mistake. Embiid’s latest flirtation with playing elsewhere is what’s caused such outrage from Sixers fans.
The All-Star forward had an interesting exchange with former teammate and current Miami Heat guard Jimmy Butler via Instagram on Monday. Embiid entertained the idea of playing somewhere other than Philadelphia. This comes after his “shushing” of the home fans after hitting a clinching three-pointer on Sunday.
That’s probably not the best way to try and mend a strained relationship, Joel. Sixers fans certainly don’t take those kind of things likely. The Philadelphia fan-base booed Embiid ahead off the Sixers-Clippers game on Tuesday night.

Uh oh. It’s safe to say things aren’t going well in Philadelphia.
It’s pretty clear the Sixers are going to have to move on from either Embiid or Ben Simmons at some point. Both want to be ‘the man,’ but neither seems willing to cooperate.
Of course, any possible trades won’t be made until the off-season. Stay tuned.
