Joel Embiid had one of the most dominant performance of the NBA season last night in the Sixers’ win over the Lakers.
The match-up at the Staples Center saw two of the league’s most fun, young rebuilding teams face off. The Lakers got strong performances by second-year Duke product Brandon Ingram (26 points, 11 rebounds) and rookie Kyle Kuzma (24 points, seven rebounds), while Rookie of the Year favorite Ben Simmons shined for Philly, with 18 points, 10 assists, and nine boards, flirting with a triple double.
The headliner though, was Sixers star center Joel Embiid.
The Process exploded for 46 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks, hitting 14-of-20 shots from the floor. Meanwhile, Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball struggled mightily, scoring just two points on 1-of-9 shooting. After the game, Embiid took the opportunity to troll Lonzo and his father LaVar Ball following the 115-109 Sixers road win on Instagram. Take a look at the location he tags in this post.
LaVar Ball may very well have put a target on his son’s back with the last year of media attention and ridiculous trash talk that he’s compiled. Ball may just be a rookie point guard on a young rebuilding project team, but he’s getting everyone’s best shot.
