The Memphis Grizzlies have spiraled out of control lately to the point where emotions are running high in the locker room.
With Memphis just 2-8 over the past 10 games, tension is growing within the clubhouse. As the team continues to fall in the Western Conference, this recent development could derail the rest of the season.
Following the team’s loss to the Detroit Pistons, Omri Casspi and Garrett Temple were involved in a physical altercation. It was noted that teammates were arguing about the lack of effort over the past few weeks.
In addition, bench players were being attacked for not showing enough enthusiasm in games. Considering that Casspi is a member of Memphis’ second unit, the veteran forward took offense to those comments.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the fight between the two veterans occurred during a team meeting.
The Grizzlies thought this meeting would help clear the air, but it might just create permanent friction for the remainder of the year.
Once the dust settled from the in-house brawl, only Mike Conley and Marc Gasol remained to speak with the media. Perhaps the two vocal leaders of the Grizzlies will find a way to fix this glaring issue.

Regardless of their recent slump, it’ll be interesting to see if the Grizzlies can look past this troubling meeting and put their best foot forward.
Memphis is now 2.5 games behind San Antonio in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
