Report: Jimmy Butler Is Recruiting Kyle Lowry To Minnesota

They played together for Team USA last summer.

Jimmy Butler is actively recruiting other All-Stars to join him in Minnesota.

One of those All-Stars is reportedly Kyle Lowry.

Butler played with Lowry on Team USA at the Olympics last summer and he's apparently been talking to him about playing together for a while.

Minnesota has Ricky Rubio at point guard, but the Wolves are reportedly interested in upgrading at the position. Lowry is set to be a free agent starting on Saturday.

“[Butler] has talked to Kyle Lowry through their Team USA association about coming to Chicago," SiriusXM’s Mitch Lawrence said. “Now I heard he’s working on him about coming to Minnesota.”

The market for Lowry isn't very clear at the moment. Houston was believed to be a possibility, but that's not happening anymore. Philadelphia was seen as an option, too, but the drafting of Markelle Fultz likely crossed them off the list, too.

Returning to Toronto seems like the probable outcome, but adding him to a Butler-Towns-Wiggins trio in Minnesota would be fun to watch.
