Kyrie Irving is one of the main prizes on the free agent market this summer. Irving has been linked as a potential package deal to the New York Knicks with Kevin Durant.

But what if Kyrie and/or KD headed to New York, but not to Manhattan? It is a possibility, according to Marc Stein and Stephen A. Smith.

Smith and Stein spoke about the possibility of both players looking at the Brooklyn Nets during an episode of Smith's podcast.

It sounds like KD-to-Brooklyn is less likely, but Kyrie to his home borough could legitimately happen.

"Right before the playoffs started, someone I trust very much told me, they might be a package deal, but they’re going to look at the Nets just as hard as the Knicks," Stein said, via Yahoo. "But again, this is third-, fourth-hand stuff."

Smith responded:

"I heard that about Kyrie, not about KD. That Kyrie and his folks – his folks are trying to convince him to look heavily at the Nets."

Of course, there is plenty of time before players actually start signing in early July. Things can and will change and a ton of rumors will emerge.

Right now, the Nets are in better shape as a franchise than their crosstown counterparts, but the Knicks still have the prestige of being "the" team in town.

It would make for an interesting choice for Kyrie or any other free agent being courted by both teams.
