Sports World Reacts To The Kelvin Sampson, Bucks News
Kelvin Sampson has rebuilt Houston's basketball program a national power. The Cougars have been among college basketball's elite since Sampson's third season at the helm, when they won a school-record 33 games and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.
The Cougars spent much of the 2022-23 season ranked at or near the top of the AP poll, Sampson won AAC Coach of the Year for the third time and Houston advanced to the Elite Eight.
Sampson has done a great job with Houston's program, and his coaching ability has one NBA team interested in seeing what he can do at the next level.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Sampson interviewed for the head coaching job with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks fired 2021 NBA Finals-winning head coach Mike Budenholzer earlier this offseason.
The sports world is reacting to the news of Sampson's interview.
"Good college coaches moving to the NBA is a move that we all know typically works out and leads to winning," one fan said sarcastically.
"I love that [GM Jon] Horst is looking at every single option available," said one Bucks fan. "Makes me feel like he *should* make the right choice, despite having so many options!"
"They’re interviewing everyone but Nick Nurse…," said another fan.
The Bucks are attempting to bring in a coach who can return them to the NBA's elite after their embarrassing first-round exit from the NBA Playoffs.
