On Tuesday night, the NBA announced the draft lottery – where the top 14 picks in the upcoming NBA draft were revealed.
In a shocking turn of events, the New Orleans Pelicans took home the No. 1 pick, despite entering the night with just a six-percent chance to do so. The three teams with the best odds – all at 14-percent – finished third or worse.
The New York Knicks (No. 3), Cleveland Cavaliers (No. 5) and Phoenix Suns (No. 6) saw their dreams fade on Tuesday night.
However, the Memphis Grizzlies were one of the teams that saw an impressive jump up. The Grizzlies took home the No. 2 selection and less than 24 hours have reportedly “locked in” on a player.
According to NBA draft analyst Jonathan Givony, the Grizzlies are all-in on star point guard Ja Morant.
Source: Barring the unexpected, Memphis Grizzlies front office and ownership appear to have locked in on selecting Ja Morant with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and are informing parties in Chicago of such. That clears the way for R.J. Barrett to fall to the Knicks at #3.

Former Duke star Zion Williamson and the former Murray State star are seen as the clear top two prospects in the draft.
The Grizzlies honing in on Morant shouldn’t surprise anyone as a result, though the team does have veteran point guard Mike Conley on the roster for at least another season.
If Memphis selects Morant, the Knicks are expected to use the No. 3 pick on Williamson’s teammate, RJ Barrett.
