The Pelicans Savagely Trolled Anthony Davis, The Lakers Last Night

Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention last night. His former team, the playoff-bound New Orleans Pelicans, decided to have some fun with that.

Taking to Twitter last night, the Pelicans announced their upcoming play-in matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. But they subtly trolled Davis in the process, using a phrase that Davis infamously put on a shirt in his final year with the team:

"That's All Folks! After tonight’s results, our Play-In Match Up is set we will face: [The Spurs]," the team tweeted. The "That's All Folks" line was a reference to a t-shirt Davis wore in the waning days of the 2018-19 Pelicans season with the same phrase written on it.

NBA fans are calling the move petty, but not necessarily in a bad way. Plenty of fans love how the Pelicans are holding a grudge after such a long time.

"New Orleans sports teams and fans are the masters of petty," Angie Thomas wrote.

"The next level pettiness is what makes the NBA so damn entertaining," another fan wrote.

Respect to the Pelicans social media team for this level of pettiness lol.

Others pointed out that the Pelicans missed their chance to truly dig at Anthony Davis given he won a title in LA in his first year with the team.

But for one moment at least, the Pelicans finally got a chance to take a shot at the star who left them behind.
