Fred VanVleet has made a decision on where he'll be playing basketball this upcoming season.

There were reportedly plenty of suitors for VanVleet, including the New York Knicks. But a potentially higher pay-check couldn't persuade the former free agent to walk away from a winning team.

VanVleet has decided to re-sign with the Toronto Raptors. He's agreed to a four-year deal worth $85 million. There's a chance he could've received a bigger contract had he signed with a team like the Knicks, but Toronto's recent success was too hard to pass down.

The star guard it returning to Toronto, where he'll stay put for the next four years of his NBA career.

Plenty of NBA fans were hoping Fred VanVleet would venture out and leave Toronto this off-season. It's safe to say some basketball fans are disappointed by his free-agency decision. Some fans believe the Raptors guard was way too overpaid by Toronto. Others believe he deserved more. What say you?

The Raptors are well-suited for success in coming years. Toronto fell to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the Eastern Conference semi-finals in last season's playoffs, which was remarkable considering how much the Raptors lost from the 2019 season's team.

With Fred VanVleet back in the fold, the Raptors should have what it takes to be a contender this upcoming season. One scary thought: it appears VanVleet is only scratching the surface of his potential.
