The Golden State Warriors just got devastating news. Klay Thompson will not return to tonight’s Game 6 after suffering a knee injury.
Thompson went down late in the third quarter when he landed awkwardly after being fouled on a transition dunk attempt. His knee appeared to buckle as he hit the ground, and he was clearly in pain afterward.
Thompson remained in the game and made both free throws, but retreated to the locker room after that. He tried to run and jump on the injured leg, but was ultimately declared out.
After the Warriors’ announced Durant’s status, some troubling video emerged of him leaving the arena. In it, he’s on crutches.
That’s usually not a great sign, though we don’t have a diagnosis yet.

Thompson was in the middle of his third-straight outstanding performance. He scored 30 points in 32 minutes before exiting the game.
Now, all Golden State can do is hold its breath. Even if Klay can’t go in a hypothetical Game 7, you have to hope his status for next season isn’t affected.
